THE 'HUNDRED NICHE' STUPA

The hundred niches symbolize the many aspects of his teachings. The large image of this stupa, as a building, is the famous Kumbum Chörten in Gyantse/Tibet. The small torana on the east side of the stupa is closed with glass and holds a heavily soiled miniature depicting a Bodisattva (?). Wood, pigments, ornaments sprayed on like stucco, small torana with glass and miniature behind it; base plate (?) still closed.
